About zombie movies

Me and my girlfriend have a thing for zombie movies at the moment.
Not meaning we have seen that much or even prefer splatter before a decent script (except for total turkey movies), she´s actually disgusted by blood, but admit, there´s something fascinating with the undead flesheaters.

Personally I have a weakness for werewolves too, but except Ginger Snaps it doesn´t seem to be so many good movies in that genre. Am I right?
Vampires aren´t that bad either – the film history is full of good versions of Dracula himself – but they are sometimes to scary even for my taste. Like spiders: They´re quite unpredictable, even if there are some rules of behaviour.
To be honest, I don´t know which is the hardest to kill – a vampire or a spider?

So, let´s go back to the zombies! Quite well known movies, but I still want to recommend them:
Resident Evil (2002): Tough woman as the leader of the gang who tries to survive the zombies, infected by a virus from the apes at the secret research station in Raccoon City. A not so subtle lesbian touch.
Warning 1: Watch out for the skinned dobermans and slicing infra red laser!
Warning 2: The sequel Resident Evil: Apocalypse is BORING.

28 Days Later (2002): Quite political intro, animal rights activists release virus-infected apes, with bad outcome… Unfortunally this is lost into only apocalypse as the fight against zombies turn into a fight between the good people and nasty army pigs barricated in a mansion. Nevertheless it´s an interesting story, I especially like the interaction between members of the surviving group we´re following.

Shaun of the Dead (2004): A parody referring to the cult movie Dawn of the Dead, but NOT only fun, blood is shed all the time! Well written, actually a well done ending too.
